Why Worry: 'When I go to sleep, I feel like my heart stops...please help' | Health – Gulf News
The heart stops moments before sleep. Anyone else experience this, is it terrifying, some advice? I'm going to bed pretty relaxed and read for about 30 minutes. But as I go to sleep, suddenly I have a very terrifying feeling that my heart stops and I'm dying! It shakes me up and I have to sit down and breathe. This happens 3 or 4 times every night. It doesn't matter which side I stay on, or what food I've eaten. Help! I've had this feeling since I was a little boy. I used to call him down from the pavement. I only get it once, just when I fall asleep. I have no idea what causes it, but maybe other grains are more knowledgeable. It's probably just the feeling that everything is relaxed and your conscious mind is turning off, but if it bothers you, then go to the doctor and get him to check it out. It is very unlikely that your heart will actually stop, but if you have eliminated genuine problems, then perhaps what in your subconscious mind is objecting to you shutting down and going to sleep can be silenced. Are you a smoker? Once I was tested for a similar problem when using a breathing monitor for one night - all the smoke equipment from previous patients that were presumably heavy smokers. Is your room well ventilated? Are you too hot in bed? Changing something can make the difference. Even raising the head of the bed a little can be enough. Sometimes I give up hard while I'm leaving. Enough to get me out of bed. I've never thought of it as 'heart standing' more like Elegran says a shake in consciousness while each thing closes. Annihilating but harmless in what I know. I have this too much afaik that's perfectly normal. I also get random shots and punches in my head right before I go to sleep. That's weird. I understand it too, but in my case I'm falling off a bus on the move! Another one here that gets it. It's annoying, it looks like I'm getting away very well when the blow! It's like a rabbit in my chest. I'm glad to know it's normal, because I've had heart problems in the past. I too - OH once explained to me what it was - something about the sympathetic nervous system. He didn't seem upset. I'm going to go through a cliff edge when I was also talking about salt and pepper last night while I fell. Strange but harmless. I understand, too, I've had most of my life. It is occasional and has never been mentioned in relation to the heart disease that I have developed. I don't feel scared and don't wake up completely. I'm going to sleep very soon after the coup. I think if you're waking up breathless 3-4 times a night you need to see your doctor. Another one who has the same 'fall' feeling when he's going to sleep. It's annoying, but I hadn't considered it a physical warning. Lately I've been getting the strong blows or doorbell ring or phone ringing noise sensations. I don't know what this is about! If you check your pulse, does it really stop? If you do, this could be a heartbeat. I suffered from them for some time. It was caused by a combination of stress and too much caffeine, once I removed one of these (caffeine) the problem decreased. My Dr. carried out an ECG, confirmed the problem and sent me to a consultant. The final result was that it was not considered serious and no action was taken but to reduce caffeine. However, if you really think your heart stops, you should get it checked out, most doctors can perform an ECG in your surgery. Another one here. I have the sudden feeling of falling and shook me up, but not very awake and normally I went down to sleep soon afterwards. Another feeling I get often is what feels like an electrical current zing through my head, horizontally from one ear to another. It can be very strong, or rather mild. It's aural and sensory. The strong are very noisy in my head! And like the 'fall' feeling, I'm usually asleep soon after. I'm very happy to hear that I'm not the only one. I have suffered this in & off for years & can really sympathize with you, naughtynanny The feeling is so horrible " can happen several times per night - so bad I'm afraid to go to sleep. I read on the Internet " seems to be normal - though unpleasant. Sometimes it seems to be a symptom of tiredness - it's a pain because I just get tired, wake up like that! I have recently been diagnosed with an erratic heartbeat that is also considered normal - but as I did not suffer from the "jerking" problem at that time, I forgot to ask if it could be related. I still suggest that you be registered for sure. This feeling of falling right when you go to sleep is called a jerk or a hypnotic asshole, this website explains everything. I understand them, but it is not the same as the heartbeat ectopic, which is evident when you are aware, especially when you sit quietly in bed. I know what you mean by feeling your heart stops. I get it and it's not the same thing that falling off the kerb that's falling asleep. Falling kerb doesn't give the feeling of panic that the heart stops. Sometimes I have the stumble on the shake while I'm sleeping and sometimes, when I'm asleep, I think I hear the phone. Just a ring and I'm awake. I never understood it, but I imagine it's in my head. I was already getting ectopics for donkeys years before developing AF, sometimes the room makes a pirueta as there is a lack of rhythm, sometimes not. I've had my heart stopped several times, and I'm intrigued that there is no loss of consciousness at all then. I don't know how long it takes before you faint, but I can say it's more than 5 or 6 seconds. As I understand ectopian heartbeat, the heart does not stop (the pulse does). What happens is that another part of the heart muscle starts the heartbeat, which means that it beats, but does not pump, the heart continues to fill with blood and when the next correct beat occurs (usually within 1 or 2 beats) the heart is more full of the normal and you can get a feeling of the mass in the chest. Stimulants like caffeine are what can cause this defective initiation of the heart muscle. Yeah, I get it and I have a pacemaker. I feel like waking up things (also DH) and also listening to the phone ring (when it has rushed) the most worrying thing for me is to be half awake but paralyzed and sometimes unable to breathe properly. It's a relief to wake up properly, but if I'm now ceredul will slip back into it. It's horrible. I've always had it Most of the nights when I've decided it's time to sleep, and I've put my book and turned off the lamp, I have a feeling of stifling stomach like passing over a bridge with wet back on the back seat of a car - it doesn't happen if I accidentally go to sleep while I read or watch TV so it should be something to do with conscious sleep effort. I usually find that it helps if I concentrate on my breathing and try to relax... pomp. The occasions I referred to when my heart stopped were when the doctors used Adenosine to stop it completely, but I don't understand why I feel less when that happens than when I put on an ectopic. It looks back in front. I was told that an ectopian beat was more dramatic because the heart continues to fill blood while beating incorrectly. When he strikes correctly he pumps much more blood than normal in that beat, making him feel like a lump in the chest and much more noticeable. Try our Symptom Checker Test our Symptom Checker Update Pro Heart patient for a second when you try to sleep.... is this anxiety? Published 4 years ago, 6 users are following. Last year (not sure what month) I've had the feeling that my heart stops beating for a second the beginnings again and does that several times when I'm trying to go to sleep so of course it scares me so I don't sleep at all... I stayed in the hospital during the night in October and they did a stress test and said my heart was fine but not sure if I was experiencing this symptom before or after the stress test I don't remember. I've been feeling good until the last few weeks. I've been dizzyer and I feel so drained that it has no energy. I usually do some walks, but lately I can't cause dizziness... to know what to do more. I had a vestibular test done last year and everything was normal, but I went to get a second opinion on another ENT and will do another vestibular test in can cause this Dr said he thinks his inner ear that is causing dizziness and a sense of balance. I'm starting a new job next Monday after I've been out of work for 2 years and I'm not sure how I'm gonna do it because I get dizzy when I'm sitting. I have klonopin to take if necessary but not always help.. by FAVOR AYUDA 1 as, 18 replies18 Replies Published 4 years ago Published 4 years ago Published 4 years ago Published 4 years ago Published 4 years ago Published 4 years ago Published 4 years ago Published 4 years ago Published 4 years ago I would say absolutely that this symptom is anxiety, as I've had it before, too. I know it's easier to say than to, but I think if you try to think about it less, it'll probably stop. Published 4 years ago Published 4 years ago In terms of your new work, maybe try to mention the dizziness to someone when you start? That won't be a big shock to them if you don't feel well. Just tell them you've seen the doctor about that and they think it's an inner ear. I'm so sorry you're going through this. I hope you feel better soon x Published 4 years ago Published 4 years ago When I think so, I make sure I have a bottle of water with me, remember to keep breathing! (I hyperventilize and get dizzy enough) and try to concentrate on the task that is being done and don't let your mind wonder. Again, that's much easier to say than to do, but as soon as you find yourself thinking about the possibility of dizziness or anxiety, try to get back to what you're meant to be pretending. I have no doubt you'll be absolutely fine! Published 4 years ago Published 4 years ago Published 4 years ago Don't let your anxiety stop you doing this job. The more you try new things that you would normally be afraid, the better you will feel. I promise. Last year I started to say yes to more and more things and I felt much better afterwards. Don't let anxiety rule your life. You're better than that. I have all the faith you're going to do right at this job, you just have to give it a chance!
